Dr Kiasha Govender is a specialist dermatologist focusing on the achievement of healthy, beautiful skin by utilizing the best in medical treatment and skincare.
She completed her undergraduate medical degree at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in Natal, graduating summa cum laude as the top graduate in her class; finishing not only top of her medical school class in her final year, but also as the top student cumulatively over her 6 years of study.
She spent time in the Department of Dermatology at King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban before embarking on her registrar training at the Department of Dermatology at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. During her postgraduate training she worked at Chris Hani Baragwanath, Johannesburg General and Helen Joseph Hospitals in Gauteng.
After leaving the public sector she was fortunate to train and work at two prestigious dermatological laser and medical centres in Johannesburg, where she developed an interest in laser and aesthetic medicine. She achieved a certificate in aesthetic medicine in 2011 from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and attained a diploma in aesthetic medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine in 2012.
She has since gone on to obtain a Masters in Medicine focusing on the impact of atopic eczema on the quality of life of children and their families, with her thesis passing with distinction.
Dr Govenders expertise has been sought by industry, academic institutions and various publications seeing her publishing extensively in academic journals and textbooks.
She has a keen interest in atopic eczema, psoriasis and acne and focuses on the achievement of healthy skin using a combination of medical prescriptive items, products specific to patients’ skin concerns and aesthetic procedures to optimize skin quality.
